About Anabelle
Anabelle Maples is an Austin-based dance artist, choreographer and filmmaker whose work explores movement, visual storytelling and the intersection of dance and film. She graduated from the University of Houston in 2024 with a minor in Dance, where she performed with the university’s ensemble performance group and trained under choreographers including Travis Prokop, Keyaira Lockett and Teresa Chapman. Since relocating to Austin, she has continued to expand her practice through collaborations with local dance groups, independent choreographers and freelance artists.
Anabelle recently created Office Siren, her first dance film, exploring the relationship between movement, character and visual aesthetics. Her multidisciplinary practice spans performance, choreography and filmmaking, with a focus on visually compelling, emotionally resonant work that challenges conventional approaches to dance. Her original piece “Smoke Break” was selected for the 254 Dance Festival, and she performs with Austin groups including ATMA Ensemble, Dance Waterloo and The Dance Project.
