About Olivia
Olivia Rodriguez-Smith is an Austin-based dancer, actor, choreographer and movement director dedicated to creating honest work that helps human beings feel seen. She holds a B.F.A. in Acting for the Stage and Screen, with a minor in Dance, from Texas State University, and has been dancing in a variety of styles for over 18 years. Olivia is currently an instructor with Ballet Austin, teaching contemporary, musical theatre, jazz and commercial dance to all levels.
She believes movement can communicate stories and experiences often difficult to articulate with words. The body knows what it feels before the brain can impede and filter, resulting in the most authentic and honest communication of a feeling or experience. This belief is her north star regardless of the medium she is creating in. As a teacher and choreographer, she believes in cultivating safe spaces for collaboration, inviting an open dialogue and creating without judgment.
Olivia has choreographed for musicals, plays, summer intensives and educational camps, and has taught a variety of styles, age groups and levels. She has worked with Casa Mañana Theatre, Stage West Theatre, Zach Theatre, The Performing Arts Project, Longhorn Dance Company and Texas State University, and is a member of Psych! Dance Collective, led by Haley Sikes.
